The Government is currently in the process of making changes to the Privacy Act, which are expected to take effect from mid-2020.

Changes include stronger powers for the Privacy Commissioner, mandatory reporting of privacy breaches, new offences, and increased fines. There will be greater protection for personal information being sent offshore and the Privacy Act will now clearly apply to any actions taken by an overseas agency doing business in New Zealand.

Privacy Commissioner John Edwards will discuss the upcoming changes to the Act and touch upon the direction the Office of the Privacy Commissioner is taking, its current priorities, and key areas of focus for the year ahead.

As this is a free event for members, you are welcome to bring your own lunch.

ACCESSING VENUE:
